Rocket Science
Design, construct, and launch solid fuel model rockets and take your science teaching to new heights – literally! Build 3 different rockets, two constructed entirely from scratch! Go home with a complete launch system and the know-how you need to bring this exciting activity to your students. Topics include: safety, physics, construction techniques, material selection, guidance and recovery systems, data collection and presentation, and resources.Monday-Thursday, June 14-17, 2010

Graduate Credit: 2 hours; available through Aurora University (additional $210 due first day of class, payable to KIDS)

Astronomy One-Oh-Fun
Build and use astronomy tools to study stars. Use daytime techniques to learn about the night sky. Topics include stellar evolution, constellations, planets, sun, moon, star maps, telescopes, tools of the trade, space exploration and resources. Plus, we supply enough materials for you to repeat these activities with your class.Monday - Thursday; June 21-24, 2010

Introduction to Nanotechnology
Examine science at the nanoscale: even smaller than microscopic. Use models as well as actual nano-scale applications to illustrate changes in properties and interactions as things get smaller. Explore nature-based nano-scale marvels and their engineered technological counterparts, from stain-resistant clothing to medicine. Go home with the materials and knowledge you need to bring nano to your students!Monday-Tuesday, June 28-29, 2010

StarLab Basics: Mechanics
StarLab is an inflatable portable planetarium system. This training will cover the set-up and take-down of the planetarium dome, mechanics of the projection system, equipment maintenance, StarLab resources, planet positions, moon phases, and overview of the night sky. This training is required before renting the StarLab from KIDS.Wednesday, August 4, 2010
