Flipkey.com names Discovery Center in list of top family attractions
ROCKFORD, Ill. –– Discovery Center Museum announced today that it was recognized on the list of 2014 Top Family Attractions Worth Traveling For in the U.S. by Flipkey.com, the vacation rental company of leading travel site TripAdvisor. The list includes not only children’s museums, but zoos, botanical gardens, natural history museums and science centers.
Through industry research and traveler feedback, Flipkey.com found the 50 most loved and most talked about family attractions in each state across the country, and Discovery Center Museum was recognized as the top family attraction in Illinois! The attractions on this list were chosen based on traveler reviews and research conducted by FlipKey’s travel team. From there the list was further narrowed down by looking at factors such as suitability to families traveling with kids, uniqueness of the attraction, and the overall entertainment appeal to families.
“We are very proud of our museum for earning the top spot in Illinois,” explains Sarah Wolf, executive director of Discovery Center Museum. “We are always happy to bring positive recognition to our museum and to the Rockford Region,” she added.
In 2013, Discovery Center served almost 136,000 visitors on site and another 72,000 through the museum’s outreach programs.
